| SMART BUILDING GROUP
This page is the introduction page for the TAHI Smart Building Group.
The Smart Building ISG concentrates on the market for adaptable and intelligently built and fitted homes and services that can be delivered to the connected home.
This group investigates and documents ways in which residential buildings can support service sets and applications for the connected home that can co-operate with services from other WGs to deliver interoperability and good user interfaces for other sectors as well as defining service sets that are purely communication and entertainments based.
The group makes recommendations on subjects such as what infrastructure is needed for the connected home, what services will be required and how can the home be made adaptable in the face of changing energy availability and an aging population.
The SBG will be the core for meetings held in conjunction with the Government's Knowledge Transfer networks in Building, Digital Communications and Electronics, commencing with the first meeting at BRE on the 25th September which focusses on the Smart Building and the Smart Meter and Smart Grid. A series of similar events is planned covering other sectors in relation to the Smart Building such as Assisted Living, Security and Audio Visual/Enetertainment. All of these have significant infrastructure elements and the SBG and this series of events will be part of the TAHI thrust to reach out into the Businesses of Building and the systems, equipment and communications they require for the future.
This Group is led by Mike Perry of BRE and has as its secretary, Michael Mulquin of Openhub Limited
