ENERGY MANAGEMENT & SUSTAINABILITY - INDUSTRY SECTOR GROUP

This page is the introduction page for the Energy ISG.

The Energy Management and Sustainability ISG is concentrating on those services that are aimed market and can be delivered to the connected home.

EMS Group Mission Statement

“To facilitate the affordable, sustainable, interoperable products, systems and services used in domestic residences with the primary objective of enhancing the wellbeing of those that live in or otherwise use them”

This group is preparing service sets and applications for the connected home that can co-operate with services from other WGs to deliver interoperability and good user interfaces for other sectors as well as defining service sets that are purely communication and entertainments based.

A particular objective of this group is to provide solutions for Interoperable Smart Metering. It is working to assist DECC, Ofgem and the Energy Retailers Association in meeting their obligations to provide Smart Metering Solutions that all suppliers can use and can provide the user with information and systems that will help them save energy and use resources more frugally.

The group also follows closely the European work on Mandate 441 and the Smart Metering Coordination Group and the standards activity being carried out to meet the objectives of Mandate 441.

The group has interests in the Future Internet PPP and will be assisting TAHI members to take part in projects in the Smart Grids areas of Usage Cases for the FI PPP (with assistance from the UK Government). Additionally, the group has formed the core of a Project Proposal into the TSB Smart Meters, Smart Homes Call - we are currently awaiting the result - See http://www.tahi3id-bre.co.uk/

This Group is led by: Ashley Pocock of EDF Energy
